A vibrant community bringing together professionals, institutions, and partners committed to strengthening grant and financial management and research governance systems across Africa. Rooted in the principles of the Good Financial Grant Practice (GFGP) standard, the community fosters peer learning, shared experiences, and practical tools to support institutions in achieving and maintaining excellence in grant compliance and financial stewardship. Our mission is to empower African institutions to confidently attract, manage, and report on donor funding by enhancing their internal systems in finance, human resources, procurement, and governance.

I am a senior research officer at the Tanzanian National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR), leading the Magu Health and Demographic Surveillance System. Additionally, I am an honorary lecturer in epidemiology and biostatistics at the Catholic University College of Health and Allied Sciences in Mwanza, Tanzania. Having managed grants, I am keen to learn new skills related to GFGP to enhance my institution’s and my research career’s alignment with GFGP standards.

I am Dr. Halima Twabi from Malawi. I am an Associate Professor of Statistics at the University of Malawi and a Biostatistician. My area of research is statistical modelling in health research, with a particular interest in health and wellbeing among children and women. I am currently the country lead for a project of strengthening data analytics on women’s health research in Sub-Saharan Africa funded by the Gates Foundation.
