Hi, Estelle Sidze here. I am a senior researcher at APHRC and I lead work on maternal mental heath. My research group seeks to drive sustained improvements in women, and children’s well-being, particularly highly vulnerable populations (e.g. adolescent mothers in disadvantaged settings). While the SDG3 emphasizes the need for investments to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all and all ages, reduction of mortality rates remains the most prevalent discourse within research and action on women and children health in the majority of low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). We want to change the status quo through advocacy, policy engagements and generation of innovative community-led solutions.
