| Short bio | My name is Esther Mwende, a Biochemist, a development practitioner who is deeply interested in the use of science, data, and social impact to bring about positive change. I have a background that combines biochemistry, program coordination, and policy advocacy, with a special focus on gender, health systems strengthening, and digital governance. Over the past five years, I have been involved in the growth of multi-partner projects through community engagement, research documentation, and evidence-based advocacy within organizations such as Terre des Hommes Netherlands, Impact Africa Network, and Sauti Salama Organisation, among others. I am eager to undertake scientific research that utilizes technology to promote health equity, enhance data systems for informed decision-making, and strengthen institutional responses to gender-based and public health challenges. My interest in data-driven tools is particularly high, as I aim to employ them to enhance monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) frameworks for sustainable development.
As a member of the APHRC and CARTA Virtual Academy, my mandate would be to immerse myself fully in the learning, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing processes. I am excited about sharing the field experience insights with the Academy, especially around youth engagement, health advocacy, and digital transformation in African contexts, as well as deepening my technical and analytical skills through the Academy’s resources. I perceive this platform as a bridge between science and policy as well as community needs, thus, research serving as the catalyst for equitable and evidence-informed development. |
