@All
We talk a lot about participant outcomes, curriculum and facilitation methods. We talk far less about the person delivering the training. Trainers running advanced courses and workshops often juggle back-to-back sessions, participants with high expectations and mixed experience, heavy preparation, travel, and the pressure to be the expert in the room, usually with little recognition or recovery time.
Burnout in this setting tends to show up quietly: dreading the next workshop, running sessions on autopilot, losing patience with questions, or feeling that the work has become repetitive. Because trainers are expected to be energetic and โ€œonโ€ in front of a group, it often goes unnoticed, even by the trainers themselves.
Iโ€™d like to open an honest conversation:
1. What are the biggest pressures on your wellbeing when delivering advanced training or workshops?
2. How do you manage intensive schedules, such as multi-day workshops or several cohorts in a row?
3. What helps you recover and stay fresh, whether a habit, a co-facilitator or a change in how you plan?
4. What should organisations that commission or host training do differently to protect their trainers?
Trainers, facilitators, lecturers and researchers, please share your experience. Someone reading may be hearing exactly what they needed.
