Short bio
Hello everyone. I\'m Yinka, a microbiology researcher by training, with a background spanning antimicrobial resistance (AMR), molecular diagnostics, and infectious diseases. Over the past 15 years I\'ve worked across university research environments in Ireland, the UK, and Nigeria. In the last few years, I\'ve moved into specialist roles focused on supporting other researchers. I\'m currently based in Accra, Ghana and work through my consultancy, RBridge Research & Advisory, to support universities, funders and international development organizations to deliver capacity strengthening in Africa. I also serve as a Visiting Professor at Ajayi Crowther University, Nigeria and as an Expert Evaluator for the European Commission under Horizon Europe and EDCTP3. I come to this community both as a practitioner and a learner. I\'ve spent time developing capacity strengthening systems at the University of Glasgow and as an independent consultant, and I\'m happy to share those experiences, particularly around researcher mentoring, grant ecosystems, and research culture change. At the same time, I\'m very keen to learn from others working in capacity strengthening in different African contexts and disciplines I am yet to be involved in the APHRC and CARTA Virtual Academies.
