Hello everyone. I am Charles Anyama, Founding Executive Director of Purpose Rwanda, a peer-led addiction recovery and prevention organisation based in Kigali, Rwanda, operating across five districts since 2017. I am also pursuing doctoral studies at the Open University of Tanzania.
My research interest sits at the intersection this community explores directly: how practitioners make defensible decisions when the evidence base is still forming. Our peer-led Purposeful Agent of Transformation model has produced a 70% sustained recovery rate across 1,700+ beneficiaries, drawn from years of programme monitoring data rather than a completed randomised controlled trial, which we are now pursuing to test what practice has already taught us. I am particularly interested in how evidence-informed decision making frameworks can accommodate frontline, real-time decisions without quietly lowering the bar for what counts as legitimate evidence.
