Short bio
I am Regina Wangui Irungu, a graduate with a Diploma in Irrigation and Drainage Engineering from the Kenya Water Institute. I have developed a strong foundation in water resource management, sustainable agriculture, and environmental conservation. Through my academic training and attachment at AAA Growers Farm, I gained practical experience in irrigation systems, farm operations, and basic administrative tasks, which strengthened my organizational and problem-solving skills.
My research interests focus on sustainable water use, climate-smart agriculture, and the link between environmental management and public health. I am particularly interested in how efficient irrigation systems and data-driven solutions can improve food security and livelihoods in rural communities.
As a participant in the APHRC and CARTA Virtual Academies, I am actively building my capacity in research methods, data analysis, and scientific communication. I engage in learning activities, contribute to discussions, and apply the acquired knowledge to better understand real-world development challenges. This opportunity is helping me grow professionally and preparing me to contribute meaningfully to research and policy development in Africa.
I am passionate about continuous learning and committed to using my skills to support sustainable development and community impact.
