@BenardOndiek
My reflection on general
grant writing is that it is not only about seeking funding but also about
clearly communicating the significance and impact of a research idea. A strong
grant proposal requires clarity, proper planning, evidence-based justification,
and alignment with the goals of the funding agency. I have also learned that
successful grant writing involves patience, collaboration, and continuous
improvement through feedback and practice. Overall, it is an important skill
for researchers because it helps transform innovative ideas into meaningful
projects and real-world impact.
To increase your chances, your proposal should align with the funders objective
How you communicate your rationale is important, align with the funders objectives, follow funders recommendations when doing your budget
My reflection on general grant writing is three fold 1) There needs to be a clear goal as to how impact is both mutually articulated by both parties. 2) A sustainability element that extends impact beyond the funding 3)The grantee team is extremely important in grant writing and grant implementation. In many cases, funders are not only funding the idea, but they are funding the people behind the idea.
