Mentor -Mentee Catchup

Dear Benard and colleagues,

Thank you for creating this opportunity for members to express their mentorship needs.

I would be very interested in mentorship in the areas of high-impact public health research, scientific publication, research translation, and building strategic research collaborations.

My background is in Public Health, Epidemiology, Pharmacoepidemiology and Biostatistics, with a particular interest in tuberculosis, infectious disease epidemiology, health-system strengthening, disease surveillance, operational research, and monitoring and evaluation.

At this stage of my career, I would particularly appreciate guidance on:

• Positioning and publishing epidemiological and TB research in high-impact international journals;
• Strengthening manuscripts from an African/LMIC perspective to meet international publication standards;
• Translating research findings into policy and programmatic action;
• Developing collaborative research networks with African and international researchers;
• Identifying opportunities for mentorship, co-authorship, peer review, and research leadership; and
• Developing competitive research concepts and building a sustainable independent research profile.

I would especially value mentorship from experienced researchers who can provide practical guidance on moving from completed doctoral research and individual publications toward larger collaborative, multidisciplinary and policy-relevant research programmes.

I look forward to learning from colleagues in this community and, equally, contributing my own experience in epidemiology, TB research and public health.
